Emma Mechelke

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Education:
B.S. Plant Pathology and Horticulture, University of Wisconsin-Madison (2018-Present)

Research interests: Throughout my time as an undergraduate, I’ve partaken in a variety of research settings, from collaborative work to a substantive project. My interests broadly span fruit and vegetable crops, yet I’m particularly interested in studying fungal disease complexes and the development of biological control agents to improve crop performance and reduce environmental impact. Having field experience with cranberries, I would like to get behind the scenes in the lab to address the impending reemergence of cranberry false blossom and the enduring concern over the cranberry fruit rot complex.

Personal interests: In my free time you can find me hiking, reading, tending to my houseplants, and antiquing. Now that I have a car on campus, I’ve been exploring parts of Madison and the surrounding suburbs I’ve never seen before!
